Travel influencer reveals how to go to Iceland for free
A travel influencer has revealed how you can get a free trip to Iceland by using a service that offers travelers the chance to explore the Scandinavian country while they travel.
Travel influencer Raychel, who posts under the username notluxe, shared the travel hack that allows travelers to make a stopover for free.
“This program is often offered by airlines to encourage tourism in their hub cities,” Raychel wrote in the caption of the video, adding in a comment that it generates thousands of additional tourists per year.
“Think about a longer layover, without extra plane tickets,” she added.
Icelandair allows passengers to add a free stopover in Reykjavik, the capital, for up to seven nights, at no extra cost to the ticket.
Raychel explained how to score the freebie and explained that you have to fly across the Atlantic Ocean to make the stopover free.

“So if you’re already planning a trip from, say, the US to somewhere in Europe, and you want to add Iceland for free along the way, you can add a flight to Iceland at no extra cost,” she explained.
‘So you book your flight as usual from your departure point to your destination and then choose to add a stopover.
“You can stay one night, three nights – up to seven nights in Iceland,” she said.
In her example, Raychel had chosen a flight from Chicago to Spain and then back to Chicago for less than $400.
“Make one trip two without buying additional flights,” she said.
Raychel then told viewers that this hack isn’t just for Iceland, but that other airlines are offering the same deal with the free stopover.
‘TAP (Air Portugal) allows you to make a free stopover in Portugal, Emirates offers free stopovers in Dubai, Copa offers free stopovers in Panama City.
‘You can also do this in Finland, Turkey, [and] Qatar,” she continued.

Excited travelers couldn’t believe this was an option and were excitedly planning their future vacations
“These stops are a great, budget-friendly way to extend your trip and visit an additional destination at no extra cost,” Raychel points out.
IcelandAir’s program does not include free or discounted hotel stays, so passengers should factor that in as an additional cost.
