Two dead after Manhattan knifeman performs horror stab and attacks three random people
Two people were killed after a Manhattan knifeman delivered a horror stab Monday morning.
A total of three people were stabbed in what the NYPD believes was an unprovoked attack, according to the NYPD.
One victim, an unidentified 36-year-old construction worker, was stabbed on W. 19th St. near Tenth Ave. around 8:20 a.m., according to police. in Chelsea.
He was stabbed in the abdomen “without warning” and rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
An unnamed Asian 68-year-old man, who was fishing in the East River, was then stabbed multiple times around 10:27 a.m. He died in hospital.
A third victim, a 36-year-old black woman, was stabbed at E. 42nd St. and First Ave. around 10:55 a.m. in Murray Hill.
The unidentified woman was also taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center where she remains in critical condition.
The suspect, a 51-year-old Hispanic man, was arrested shortly afterwards at East 46th Street and First Avenue after a taxi driver called police. Charges against him are still pending.

In addition to the taxi driver, several Good Samaritans and NYPD Officer Robert Garvey helped track down the knifeman.
“If Officer Garvey had not been there during these random acts of violence, this individual would likely have continued these random acts of violence,” Mayor Eric Adams said. “So he saved the lives of fellow New Yorkers.”

The suspect is believed to have a string of previous arrests, including four burglaries between December and January, followed by a grand theft arrest in October.
According to the report, the disturbed individual has also faced arrests in other states, including Florida, Ohio and New Jersey.
Witnesses alerted police that he was in the area, while officers later found him with blood on his clothing, police said.

A witness, Baha Biten, who was in the consulate building at the time, said he “saw this homeless man walking with a bag.”
‘And then I saw a man in the car say to him: “Stop, drop the bag! Stop!”.
“Of course he wasn’t listening and then suddenly I saw the guys in suits and headphones running forward looking for a suspect,” he added.
The witness said the male suspect “did not resist” during his arrest, but added that he was “mentally unwell.”
“At this point, these attacks appear to be unprovoked, that he simply walked up to them and started attacking them with the knives,” said NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.
