Two NYPD Officers Get Shot in the Bronx

Police say two New York City police officers were shot and killed around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday in the Bronx.

The officers were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and are expected to survive, police said. A suspect has been arrested and is being treated in the same hospital.

The shooting took place on Beaumont Avenue, in the Belmont neighborhood. A press conference was scheduled to take place in the hospital late on Wednesday evening.

The incident happened after another officer was hit by a car while stopping a vehicle in Brooklyn at around 6:38 p.m., police said. The officer was in critical but stable condition, police said, and may have suffered a broken leg or ankle and cuts.

Several suspects fled, leaving a vehicle behind, but no one was arrested, police said.
