“Tyler was an ambitious, hardworking actor who suffered from severe and persistent depression,” said his father, David Sanders. “Despite aggressive treatment, Tyler could not find relief and began experimenting with substances. Tyler began using drugs not to enjoy social life, but to help him cope with his serious mental illness. As we mourn his passing, we are committed to sharing Tyler’s story in the hopes of expanding the dialogue about this pervasive issue.”

Tyler may have sought intimate connections and brought joy to those around him as a result of his desperation. While Tyler discreetly battled his inner demons. While publicly committed to making sure no one else suffered as he did. Tyler loved the Lord, he loved people, and he gave it his all every day. It is our sincere hope that our story can help others.”
The program “Do More 4 Tyler” was founded by Joe Nussbaum. And he is the director of Tyler Sanders’ show Just Add Magic: Mystery City.
“Working with bright, enthusiastic and motivated young actors like Tyler is one of the great joys of making children’s television,” Nussbaum noted. “Tyler was so enthusiastic about his acting career that he often wrote ‘Do More’ on his hand to remind himself to work hard to achieve his ambitions. ‘Do More’ is now ours.”
In Tyler’s honor, my colleagues in the children’s television industry and I have launched the “Do More” initiative. We want to change the way the industry views the mental health of our profession. And the youngest and most vulnerable workers – child performers.”
