Tyson Fury’s ‘historic’ fight with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight crown will take place, promoter Frank Warren promised Monday.
Usyk paved the way for a clash with WBC champion Fury after defending his WBA, WBO and IBF titles with victory over Anthony Joshua on Saturday.
The gypsy king had been teasing about retirement, but after the fight in Saudi Arabia, he told the Ukrainian, “Get out your checkbook.”

One fighter has ruled the heavyweight division since Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield, but talks are underway for a December fight in the desert.
“It’s a fight that I think will be made because both teams would love to see that happen,” Warren, Fury’s co-promoter, told BBC Radio 5 Live. “Usyk said after the fight that this is the only fight he’s interested in, and it’s definitely the same case with Tyson.
“It’s just a matter of where it will generate the most revenue, because it’s a unique, historic fight, the whole boxing world will be fascinated by this fight.”

Usyk, who hoped to return to Ukraine after beating Joshua, insisted: “If I don’t fight Tyson Fury, I don’t fight at all.”
Warren also teased a possible meeting between Fury and Joshua.
“If AJ manages to get a few wins to his name – and I believe Tyson will beat Usyk – that could turn into a fight,” added Warren.
“But AJ needs to recover before you can even think about such fights.”
The British rivals would clash for the undisputed crown in 2021, only to see that fight fail.
