In conversation with her followers, she said: “Did you know there are two different brands of Uggs? “There’s the OG Uggs from Australia and there is the American brand Uggs.

“The Australian one came out in 1974 and the American one just after that.

“But the way you see the difference is that the Australians say Ugg was made in Australia in 1974, and the American ones just say Ugg.

‘And just like obviously the American ones, you can get them in JD, Office, you know, Footasylum.

“But if you want an original Australian pair you have to pre-order them because they are handmade.

“It’s like I’m years old today that I heard this news and I’m stunned.”

This has even led some social media users to speculate which ones are ‘real’ and which are ‘fake’.

American Uggs cost between £70 and £190 and Australian Uggs can cost up to £450.

Amid the increasing confusion, the Ugg Since 1974 company has published its own explainer on its site.

In the post, the Australian company talks about the differences between ‘Ugg’ – owned by Deckers Brands – and ‘Ugg Since 1974’.

Fashion fans are going wild and ‘buying all three colours’ of new ‘drop of the season’ shoes from Primark – they are so ‘comfortable and warm’

The message from the Australian company read: “Here at Ugg Since 1974, we are often asked if we are the same company as Ugg.

“The answer is a resounding no (we are not related to Ugg in any way), but for those who don’t know the Ugg story, it’s an easy mistake to make.

“We currently have no affiliation or relationship with Ugg, nor have we ever had one.”

Deckers Brand’s Ugg company was born after the Australian one in 1995 and is very similar – the only difference to the eye is the logo on the back.

The Ugg company explained: “Deckers Brands is the exclusive owner of the Ugg brand in the United States and in more than 150 countries worldwide.

“Deckers remains committed to its robust enforcement intellectual property rights to protect our consumers from being deceived and purchasing infringing products.

“One of the pillars of the Ugg brand is a product that lasts.

“We are extremely proud of the materials we use, the innovation around new materials and the long lifespan of our products.”

The Ugg Australia lasts so much longer and is of much better quality

TikTok response

Many fashion fans rushed to the comments section of Phoebe’s video to share their thoughts.

One wrote: “You’re spot on! I have a few UGG non-Australian ones and to be honest they are totally Ugg Australia.

A second added: “Yes the best OG uggs Australia are the best.”

While a third said: “OMG!!! This is why my UGGS don’t last long.

“My last two pairs stopped looking Nice after a month, so now I just buy DHgate because I don’t pay £200 for shoes that last a month, but this makes sense!

Someone else commented: “The Ugg Australia lasts so much longer and is much better quality.”

And another said: “I bought OG Uggs from Australia in 2010 when my dad went to work there. Chocolate brown. I can’t get rid of them.”

One fashion fan said: “Even real Uggs are fake Uggs.”

UGGS…UGG-like or UGG-essential?

Fabulous’ deputy fashion editor, Abby McHale, has shared her thoughts on whether or not UGGS will be present this season.

“The term UGG originally comes from Australia, they were commonly worn by surfers in the 60s who came to Britain in the 70s.

After Oprah included UGG boots as part of “Oprah’s Favorite Things” in 2003, the brand’s sales skyrocketed.

Everyone from Paris Hilton to Kate Moss and even Beyonce wore these fur-lined boots and that meant everyone else had to copy.

Back in the day I decided to go cheap and instead of buying a pair from the UGG brand myself which would have cost me around £100, I went to Dorothy Perkins and bought myself a pair of black ones which cost a quarter of the price.

They probably lasted all month before breaking due to the wet weather. I walked next to them and they looked downright dirty.

After that I knew they weren’t for me.

Synonymous with 1990s chavs who wore them with neon socks and tucked them into onesies, they went from an in-thing to a major fashion mistake.

Finally people could see that they had to get rid of it.

They may have been and still are the definition of comfort, but does that mean we have to be seen in public wearing them?

If it were up to me, I’d leave these boots firmly parked where they belong in 2008.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the UGG slippers and would love to wear a pair in the comfort of my own home, but that’s as far as I can go.

This time, celebrities like Olivia Attwood, Emily Ratajkowski and Kate Garraway have all donned the boots.

However, it seems they wear them between shoots, running errands or a ride to work before swapping for a pair of heels.

Hopefully this will continue and people will just wear them for comfort rather than fashion. I’ll stick with my sneakers on this one.”
