Reports from Spain claimed on Monday that Real Madrid would take a step to convince Zubimendi to accompany themselves about the Gunners.
Marca’s report claimed that Real Madrid had contacted the entourage of Zubimendi to determine whether he had completed a deal with Arsenal, of which his camp was claimed to have refused.
The report claimed that the call from Real Madrid ‘has changed everything’ where Zubimendi became aware of the opportunity to become a member of the club.

Waiting for the official confirmation of the transfer of Zubimendi, with other deals announced in the first summer window, is said to be due to Real Sociedad who wants to ratify the deal in July for accounting purposes.
Zubimendi spoke about his future last week, prior to Spain’s Nations League matches.
The 26-year-old midfielder admitted that he is confronted with a ‘long summer’ in the midst of speculation about his next club.
Zubimendi also labeled Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso as his ‘Idol’, even before he worked with the former midfielder when he coached Real Sociedad’s B team.
‘Of course there are options, but it is true that it looks like it will be another, long summer and I don’t know how it will end.
‘I don’t think I think about that now, my priority. I am here with the national team, which I think is already much demanding, and if I have to say something, I will do it.
‘I always said that he was my idol and that it was a bit lucky for me that he could coach me in the reserve team during a very important year.
“The next season I achieved the first team, and, well, I don’t like to talk about those hypotheticals, I’d rather talk about the present.”

A product of the youth system of Sociedad, Zubimendi has been played for the club 236 times, while he has represented Spain 17 times.
He has long been considered one of the best midfielders in Laliga and last summer he came close to Liverpool, who came in for him after he helped Spain to win Euro 2024.
However, Zubimendi finally decided to stay in Sociedad after his boy’s club tried to change his mind.
Zubimendi scored on Sunday in the Nations League final when Spain pulled 2-2 with Portugal, but suffered a defeat in a penalty shoot-out.
