Cucumber slices are not only good for puffiness around the eyes, they have many more benefits.

According to beauty expert Hayley Walker of JustMyWatchThere are seven other ways to use cucumbers during a spa day, besides putting them on your eyes.

She recommends using them to soothe irritated skin, among other things.

“Cucumber skin care products have a number of health and beauty benefits that are beneficial for a variety of skin types, including sensitive, inflamed skin,” Walker says.

“The soothing properties of the skin care ingredient, thanks in part to its high water content, are beneficial for people with sensitive skin.

“Cucumbers also contain antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties. They soothe redness and irritation.”

Walker also praised cucumbers for their high water content and their ability to add moisture to the skin.

“Cucumber has hydrating properties that give dry skin a moisture boost,” she said.

“Cucumber extract soothes the skin and strengthens its natural moisture barrier for smooth, soft and hydrated skin.

“Incorporate cucumber extract skin care products into your routine, like Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream, to prevent dry, dehydrated skin or treat existing skin conditions.”

Cucumbers can even help fight acne.

“Cucumber has an anti-inflammatory effect and has a calming effect. It reduces inflammation, redness and irritation caused by acne,” the researcher said.

“The skin care ingredient also acts as a natural cleanser to prevent clogged pores by removing dead skin cells and oil build-up.

“This nourishes the skin and prevents future acne breakouts.”

IN THE SHADOW

Walker explains why cucumbers are an excellent skin care choice for reducing puffiness around the eyes.

“Cucumbers on the eyes are a real treat, and rightly so, as the ingredient helps reduce dark circles and brighten the skin,” she says.

“The vitamin K in cucumber improves circulation and reduces puffiness, while vitamins C and E brighten the skin and tackle discoloration caused by dark circles.”

They can also fight sunburn and other skin problems caused by free radicals.

“This skin care ingredient is also helpful for sunburn,” she said.

“Not only does the cooling effect help with sunburn, but the anti-inflammatory properties also help reduce swelling and irritation and are great for relieving the pain of sun exposure.

“The antioxidant properties of cucumber make it the ideal ingredient to fight free radicals.”

This ingredient has several benefits for the hair, leading to healthier and shinier hair.

Finally, Walker explained how the plant extract can be good for hair and nails.

“If you have trouble growing your nails and they break easily, you can solve this by adding cucumber to your diet or using cucumber cuticle oil,” the doctor said.

“Cucumbers are high in vitamin H, which improves nail thickness and promotes faster nail growth. This results in longer, stronger nails that are less likely to break.

“Cucumber is not only good for the skin but also nourishes the hair. This ingredient has several benefits for the hair, leading to healthier and shinier hair.

“The vitamin K properties promote hair growth by improving scalp health and circulation and nourishing the hair follicles.

“This can also help regulate sebum production, allowing the scalp’s natural oils to nourish the hair strands, helping to maintain hair’s moisture levels.”
