Michael van Gerwen has withdrawn from the players’ championship 16.
It comes after his first round Exit in the previous phase of the players’ championship, where his friend claims that “faith is not there”.
Van Gerwen, 36, was 6-5 reports from outside Dominik Gruellich.
It is the sixth loss of this year’s first round of the PDC protour for the Green Machine, which has missed its usual shape.
His countryman Vincent van der Voort is a bit worried, because Van Gerwen does not show the attributes that have made him one of the best in the world.
Van der Voort said on the podcast of Darts turns on: “When I see how things go, faith is just not there.
“His presence is missing, there is no aggression or passion in his game.
“It’s just about throwing the board and hoping the best.”
The form of Van Gerwen means that he also runs the risk of missing himself for the Finals Night of Premier League darts.
He currently occupies the last place in the top four, but is only one point for the Nathan Aspinall.
