Verizon is experiencing network issues on Monday, leaving some stuck in SOS mode
If you’ve had trouble using the Verizon network Monday morning, you’re not alone. The carrier confirmed to CNET that it has been working to resolve some issues.
“We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers,” a Verizon spokesperson said in a statement. “Our technicians are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and resolve the issue.”
It was not immediately known what exactly the problems are, how many people are affected by them and when they could be solved. It is also unclear whether the problems were related to Hurricane Helene, which hit the US this weekend.
The issues have led some Verizon users to take to family or contacts.
According to Down detectora site where users can self-report outages, problems with Verizon’s service are starting to pop up in major cities, including Chicago, Atlanta and New York. (Downdetector is owned by the same parent company as CNET, Ziff Davis.)
T-Mobile and AT&T confirmed to CNET that their respective networks are fine and that any issues their respective users may experience could be the result of attempting to connect to a Verizon user who does not have working service.
“Based on the increased reports of Down Detector related to other carriers, we believe our customers may experience issues connecting to other networks,” a T-Mobile spokesperson said. “Outside of some areas where Hurricane Helene recovery continues, our network is operating normally.”
CNET has reached out to Verizon for more details and will update as we learn more.
