RIO DE JANEIRO: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Brazil on November 18, the Indian diaspora has expressed their excitement and said they have started preparations to greet the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Modi is heading to Brazil for the 19th G20 Summit, which will take place from November 18 to 19.
The Indian diaspora is excited to see their leaders and has prepared several cultural performances, such as Garba, to welcome the Prime Minister.
“I am very excited. We have made a lot of preparations. Women have organized a garba dance to welcome him,” Rajni, a member of the Indian diaspora, told ANI.
Another member, Dipali, said she plans to make food for Prime Minister Modi.
“I am planning to make some food for Prime Minister Modi. I try to give a Gujarati touch to the food.”
Moreover, children have prepared to sing ‘Vande Mataram’ upon the Prime Minister’s arrival.
Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Brazil on the second leg of his three-nation visit. He will attend the G20 summit, which will take place from November 18 to 19.
As a member of the Troika, India will play an important role in shaping the agenda, building on the momentum of its own G20 presidency. Brazil is expected to maintain its focus on the priorities of the Global Southensuring continuity and progress on key issues.
“In Brazil, I will attend the 19th G-20 Summit as a member of the Troika. Last year, the successful Indian Presidency elevated the G-20 to the G-20 of the people and integrated the priorities of the Global South into its Agenda This year, Brazil has built on India’s legacy. I look forward to meaningful discussions that align with our vision of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future.’ I will also take this opportunity to exchange views with several other leaders on advancing bilateral cooperation,” Prime Minister Modi said in an official statement.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi arrived in Nigeria, beginning his five-day visit to three countries. He was warmly welcomed by Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory, upon his arrival in Abuja, the Capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Minister Wike presented Prime Minister Modi with the ‘Key to the City’ of Abuja. The key symbolizes the trust and honor that the people of Nigeria bestow on the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral talks in Nigeria to strengthen ties between the two countries.
Prime Minister Modi issued a statement marking his first stop in Nigeria at the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at strengthening strategic ties between the two countries.
“At the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, this will be my first visit to Nigeria, our close partner in the West African region. My visit will be an opportunity to build on our Strategic Partnership based on a shared belief in democracy and pluralism. I am also eagerly looking forward to meeting the Indian community and friends from Nigeria who have sent me warm welcome messages in Hindi,” the statement said.
Prime Minister Modi’s final destination is Guyana, where he will make history as the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country in more than fifty years.
