NEW DELHI: Vishwa Hindu Parishad demanded the immediate release of Iskcon chief priest Chinmoy Krishna Das, terming the action of Bengali authorities “cowardly and undemocratic” on Tuesday. Bajrang Lal Bagra, International Secretary General of the VHP, said that the news of the arrest of the head priest of Iskcon is a matter of great concern: “VHP strongly opposes this cowardly and undemocratic act by the government of Bangladesh. Iskcon and other Hindu organizations have protested against their persecution in a fully democratic manner, without resorting to any form of violence. rights of the Hindu community.”

Bagra stressed that from the beginning they have demanded that events in Bangladesh, where left-wing and Islamist elements are oppressing the Hindu community, be addressed. “Unfortunately, the world community and international organizations have not shown the level of concern or imposed the necessary restrictions on these events,” Bagra said, as the VHP urged the world community to closely observe these events, understand their seriousness and exert pressure to exercise on the “Bengali government to protect the human rights of Hindus.”
