Surveillance footage captured the moment a 16-year-old was accidentally shot in the head by his friend in Brooklyn during a shooting on Tuesday.
Cahlil Pennington was shot while he and two other teens in white hoodies ran down Pitkin Avenue, according to police and footage.
In the video, one of the teens turns to shoot another gunman after being shot in the stomach during a gunfight around 1:30 p.m., police said.
In the commotion, the bullet missed its intended target and struck Cahlil in the head on the corner of Pitkin and Miller Avenues, according to police and video footage.

Several of the teens fled and no arrests have been made.
According to police, gunfire started when a gunman came forward at 1:34 p.m. and shot one of the teens in the torso near the Fiorentino Plaza homes.
Cahlil reportedly suffered two gunshot wounds. Police believe he was also shot by the gunman, who first opened fire on the teenagers.
“My son was shot twice in the back,” the father of the murdered boy, Cornell Pennington, 45, told the New York Daily News. “I never thought we would experience this. My child should bury me, not I them.’
“My son wasn’t perfect. We thought my son left these streets behind. He was in the 10th grade of New Visions Charter High School II. He didn’t deserve this. Nobody does that,” Cornell said.
The grieving father said that ‘Cahlil picked up his girlfriend to take her home. Her living situation was not good, so he asked if she could come and live with us.’
Cahlil lived in an apartment in the Breukelen Houses in Canarsie. He had four brothers and three sisters. His father said the teen had recently started playing basketball and was a talented point guard.
“It’s not my son, it’s everyone’s son here,” Cornell said.

Police also responded to two other shootings in Brooklyn on Tuesday.
A man in his twenties was shot in the head on Livonia Avenue and Bradford Street, about five blocks from where Cahlil was shot, according to police.
The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, nearly five hours after Cahlil, police said.
“There was a shot, and I thought nothing of it. He was hit and fell on the corner,” an unnamed witness told the New York Daily News. “He was lying face up when they lifted him onto the stretcher. He didn’t respond, but they didn’t cover his face, so he must have been alive.”
About three hours later, around 9 p.m., a man was shot at the corner of Patchen and Gates Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, police said. The man’s condition is unknown.
Police have yet to confirm whether the three shootings in Brooklyn on Tuesday are related.
