NEW DELHI: The Congress on Monday shared a video of a police officer removing his uniform in a room full of angry people.
The Madhya Pradesh unit of Congress shared the video of X and hit out at the state government saying, “This is the power of authority… look at the menace of the BJP councillor…a man in uniform had to tear his uniform!”

The party said the video came from Baidhan police station. Singrauli “where a police officer got so upset under pressure from a BJP councillor that he tore his uniform! How will the public get justice, when the police themselves have to tear their uniform!”
According to news agency PTI, the video dates back to February and action has already been taken against assistant inspector Vinod Mishra.
Additional Superintendent of Police Shiv Kumar Verma said an inquiry into the February video was initiated by former SP Yousuf Qureshi. After submitting the inquiry report, current SP Nivedita Gupta took disciplinary action against Mishra by ordering suspension of his annual increment.
Arjun Gupta, husband of BJP leader Gauri Gupta, told PTI that the dispute arose over the construction of a drain and that he had only warned Mishra that he would remove his uniform if he continued in his agitated state.
Mishra himself narrated the incident and stated that Gupta had threatened to remove his clothes and have him fired in the presence of the police. Mishra felt humiliated and admitted that he had removed his uniform in response to the situation. “I shouldn’t have reacted like that,” Mishra said sadly.
