NFC North rivals Minnesota and Chicago will face off for the first time this season on Sunday. The 8-2 Vikings are heading to the playoffs, but must keep winning if they want to catch the 9-1 Lions for the division title. The Bears, meanwhile, have fired their offensive coordinator as embattled head coach Matt Eberflus looks to end a four-game losing streak that has dropped them to last place in the division at 4-6. As Chicago’s playoff hopes dim, Bears fans can look forward to brighter days ahead with Caleb Williams leading the offense and almost certainly a new head coach at the start of next season.

The Vikings and Bears kick off in Chicago at 1:00 PM ET (10:00 AM PT) on Fox. This way you can watch even if the game isn’t available on your local Fox channel.

How to watch the Vikings vs. Watch Bears game online from anywhere using a VPN

If you find that you can’t watch the game locally due to improperly applied blackout restrictionsyou may need another way to watch the game and that’s where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to prevent your ISP from slowing down your speed on game day by encrypting your traffic. Plus, it’s a great idea if you’re traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network, and want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins.

With a VPN you can virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to access the game. So if your ISP or mobile carrier has given you an IP address that incorrectly reflects your location in a blackout zone, a VPN can correct that problem by giving you an IP address in your correct, non-blackout area. Most VPNs, like ours Editors’ Choice, ExpressVPNmake it very easy to do this.

Using a VPN to watch or stream sports is legal in every country where VPNs are legal, including the US and Canada, as long as you have a legitimate subscription to the service you’re streaming. You’ll want to make sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks: even if VPNs are legal, the streaming service can terminate the account of anyone it deems to be circumventing properly applied blackout restrictions.

How Vikings vs. Watch Bears in the US

The Vikings vs. Sunday’s Bears is nationally on Fox. The good news for football fans is that Fox is available on most major live TV streaming services. The least expensive service is Sling TV Blue.

Sling/CNET

Sling TV’s Blue plan includes NBC, Fox and the NFL Network, although it doesn’t have CBS, ABC or ESPN. Enter your address here to see what local channels are available where you live. NFL RedZone is also available for an additional $11 per month.

Keep in mind that to get ABC and ESPN, you’ll need to switch to the similarly priced Orange plan (which drops Fox, NBC, and NFL Network) or go for the $60-per-month Orange and Blue bundle combined to get those channels from both packages. With the combined plan, the Sports Extra add-on, which RedZone has, costs an additional $15 per month.

One important caveat: From our experience, local Fox affiliates are only available if your billing address is in one of the 18 metropolitan areas covered by Sling’s agreement. If you are outside one of these areas, you are probably better off using one of the alternative services below.

Numerous other live TV streaming services also offer local Fox stations, namely YouTube TV, Hulu Plus Live TV, DirecTV Stream, and Fubo. They all cost a lot more than Sling, but they also offer a full range of live channels, including football channels like CBS and ESPN. Check out our guide to live TV streaming services for more information.

For $73 a month you get all the major football channels with YouTube TV. Additionally, RedZone is available for an additional $11 per month. Enter your zip code on YouTube TVs welcome page to see which local networks are available in your area.

Fubo

Fubo costs a minimum of $92 per month if you use the RSN fees it chargeswhich you don’t need for NFL games, but still have to pay for. Fubo’s basic plan costs $80, but you’ll be charged an additional $12 per month if you get one RSN, or $15 per month if you have two or more in your area. RedZone is available for an additional $11 per month, and you can get 4K broadcasts with the $90 per month Elite plan. It’s worth noting that Fubo recently introduced a new $30 first month offer for its Pro, Elite With Sports Plus, and Deluxe plans. An over-the-air antenna connected to your TV provides another option for Fox. The best thing about antennas is that there are no streaming or monthly fees required, although you do need to make sure you have good reception.

Quick tips for streaming the Vikings vs. Bears with a VPN

  • With four variables at play (your ISP, browser, video streaming provider, and VPN), experience and success may vary.
  • If you don’t see the location you want as the default option for ExpressVPN, try using the “search for city or country” option.
  • If you’re having trouble downloading the game after turning on your VPN and setting it to the correct viewing area, you can try two things to quickly resolve this. First, log into your streaming service subscription account and make sure the address registered for the account is one in the correct display area. If not, you may need to change the physical address registered to your account. Second, some smart TVs (like Roku) don’t have VPN apps that you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you’ll need to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you use (like your phone) so that every device on the Wi-Fi network now appears in the correct viewing location.
  • All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main site for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases, with Smart TV services, after you install a cable network’s sports app, you may be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to your registered email address for your Smart TV. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help as both devices appear to be in the right location.
  • And don’t forget that browsers can often give away location despite using a VPN, so make sure you’re using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend Brave.
