Vivo X200 and X200 Pro flagships to launch in October: report
After the launch of Vivo’s X Fold 3 Pro foldable, it’s time for the next X-series of camera-focused flagships. Currently tagged by the rumor mill as the Vivo X200 (standard model) and the Vivo X200 Pro (top-end model), a bunch of details about these smartphones have already leaked out, including their new designs, camera specs, and battery capacities. And following the news of the phones receiving their Chinese certifications, there’s finally information regarding the launch timeline.
According to a note from Wall Street ChinaVivo will release its X200 series of smartphones in “early October” in an attempt to position them as worthy competitors to this year’s iPhone 16 Pro models that were just launched globally. The brief note also points out that Vivo ranks third in terms of smartphones sold in China, after Huawei and Apple. It’s prudent to note that this timeline is most likely the release date for the Chinese market and not a global launch.
A recent report had revealed a brand new design with a flat display and symmetrical bezels all around and a hole-punch selfie camera at the top center. The render did not reveal the rear panel design of the Vivo X200, which is also said to have undergone changes as revealed in an earlier report.
Vivo X200 Pro Specifications (Expected)
Both smartphones are said to be getting an upgrade to a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC this year. A recent report had suggested that unlike the X200 model that was spotted with a flat display, Vivo will be retaining a slightly curved display (around the edges) as was the case with previous models in the series. This 6.7-inch display is likely to offer 1.5K resolution and will feature a single-point ultrasonic fingerprint reader. The Pro model will also feature a larger silicon battery, said to have a capacity of 6,000mAh. The telephoto camera is also said to be getting a massive upgrade to a 200-megapixel shooter, as per the rumours.
Vivo X200 Specifications (Expected)
The Vivo X200 will, according to previous leaks, feature a smaller 6.3-inch flat display with a 1.5K resolution. Like the X200 Pro, it will also be powered by the same Dimensity 9400 SoC. The camera setup will be toned down to a 50-megapixel 3x optical zoom camera, which will also have macro shooting capabilities like the current models. The phone will be fueled by either a 5,500mAh or a 5,600mAh battery and will support wireless charging.
