‘Vulgar content due to end of editorial control’: IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on social media regulation laws | India News – Times of India
“Today, on the one hand, social media is a very big medium for press freedom, but at the same time, on the other hand, because of its end. editorial controlit is an uncontrolled expression in which many types of vulgar content are also played. The existing law absolutely needs to be further strengthened, and I would like to ask for a consensus on this,” he said.
“There is a lot of difference between the culture of our country and the countries where these social media platforms come from. So this kind of debate has been raised in many other countries. Therefore, I would like the Standing Committee of Parliament to address this issue and strict laws be made regarding the same,” he added.
He was responding to a question from BJP MP Arun Govil during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha.
Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were again adjourned for the day amid an uproar over the opposition’s demand to discuss key issues including the charge sheet against Adani.
