Watch the live-action Netflix teaser for ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ season 2
The first teaser trailer The second season of Netflix’s live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender is out, and the streaming giant unveiled it Thursday night during its Netflix Geeked Week event.
The teaser, while very brief, hints at what’s to come in Season 2: Aang’s journey through the Earth Kingdom with Sokka and Katara as he attempts to master earthbending now that he’s mastered airbending and waterbending. The trailer shows a pair of feet with ankle guards — Toph Beifong’s signature shoes — as they slide through the dirt and then stomp, manipulating the ground to move. The teaser also announces that Season 2 is “now in production.”
Netflix also revealed the final major addition to the main cast: Toph, who will be Aang’s earthbending teacher this season. A headstrong and independent young woman, Toph is an earthbending prodigy, partly because she is blind and has a more finely tuned sense of touch.
Toph is played by Miya Cech in the live-action version. Dallas Liu and Ian Ousley, the voices of Zuko and Sokka, were on hand at the Netflix event to talk about how they’re back in Avatar “boot camp” in Vancouver.
Season 2 also sees a softer edge to Prince Zuko, the full introduction of Fire Nation princess Azula, and of course the heartbreaking episode The Tales of Ba Sing Se. We can only hope Netflix keeps these intact for the live-action version of the series.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Was renewed for season 2 and 3 in March of this year.
During Geeked Week, Netflix also revealed a teaser for The Witcher, along with a Sandman season 2 featurette, a teaser for Devil May Cry, a music video for Arcane season 2, a trailer for the Tomb Raider animated series, a teaser for Squid Game season 2, and a bunch of new Netflix mobile games.
