Detectives from Whitefield Fire Station in Nagondanahalli, Bengaluru, have prevented a woman from ending her life and that of her 5-year-old child by performing a dramatic last-minute rescue.
Bengaluru News: A team of firefighters in Bengaluru in Karnataka averted a possible tragedy when they foiled a young mother’s attempt to kill her five-year-old child and end her life by suicide by leaking gas at her home.
However, a last-minute rescue effort by fire brigade investigators prevented the tragedy from happening as they arrived just in time and foiled her bid.
The dramatic incident was caught on camera and the video went viral on social media platforms.

In the viral video, the fire station team can be seen forcing open the door of the woman’s apartment using a bar and rescuing the mother-daughter duo.
The woman can be seen resisting and struggling to break free while holding a matchbox in her hand, apparently in an attempt to set the house on fire. However, the firefighters ripped the matchbox out of her hand before she could light a matchstick.
Later she was pacified by the firefighters and some neighbors.
What happened?
According to reports, the 37-year-old woman, who lives at the Srinidhi Alliance Apartment in the Nagondanahalli area of Bengaluru, decided to take the extreme step after being plagued by family disputes.
The woman tried to end her life, along with that of her minor child, by leaking the gas cylinder in her apartment.
According to reports, the woman’s family had learned of her plans and tried to intervene. However, their repeated attempts fell on deaf ears as the woman did not respond and open the door, prompting them to call in the local fire station to lead a rescue.
After receiving information from the family, the Whitefield Fire Station team quickly acted and arrived on scene. Without wasting any time, the firefighters forced open the apartment door and successfully rescued the mother-daughter duo in the nick of time, averting a likely tragedy.
The decisive and quick response from the Whitefield Fire Station, which saved the lives of the woman and her child, was captured on film and the video is going viral on social media sites. Commenting on the viral video, users praised the firefighters for their decisiveness, skill and courage, which helped prevent a potential tragedy.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Whitefield Police Station.
An official said the woman was reportedly upset due to frequent family disputes and decided to take the desperate step while her husband was at work.
“The circumstances that led her to take such a step are under investigation,” the official said.
