Watching ‘The Boys’? This Prime Video Feature Is a Treat for Fans

Season 4 of The Boys is here, and it’s every bit as bloody, dark, and satirical as you’d expect. If you’ve already grabbed some popcorn (Vought corn?) and started watching, you may have noticed a familiar feature when you paused or tapped the screen.

Like a human-altering substance from the show, Prime Video’s X-Ray tool gives you a power the average TV viewer doesn’t have: the ability to instantly ignore nagging thoughts about actors and music while streaming a title. The IMDB feature provides valuable details and saves you a Google search. While I was watching the latest season of The Boys, X-ray reminded me of seeing Rosemarie DeWitt, the actress who plays Hughie’s mother, in the 2016 musical La La Land , and led to the discovery that “Let’s Put the Christ Back in Christmas” is on music streaming platforms. Fingers crossed it makes it onto holiday playlists.

Besides these benefits, one major advantage of X-Ray is when it comes to The Boys season 4 trivia. highlighted in this popular post On X, if you’re a Boys superfan, ignoring this part of X-Ray would be utterly devilish. The offering feeds viewers improvised rules and throws in well-timed tidbits, like that Rob Benedict, who plays Firecracker’s sidekick in the infamous sauna scene in episode 2, studied Shakespeare at Northwestern.

Six episodes into Season 4, the Prime Video show has continued the overarching struggle between morally corrupt superheroes and the vigilantes bent on taking them down. If you love The Boys and don’t mind spending a few extra minutes on each episode, here’s how to watch all the trivia Prime Video has to offer.

Prime Video X-Ray: How to Watch Every Piece of Trivia from The Boys Season 4

So you’re watching an episode of The Boys season 4 and want to activate X-Ray? Pressing the remote on a TV, tapping the screen on a mobile device, or moving your cursor in a web browser will briefly bring the feature to your screen.

Depending on the episode, X-Ray can provide details on cast members, songs, and even trivia. You can repeat this as you please during your binge, but if you want to catch every last bit of trivia, you’ll probably want to take a different approach. Here’s what I recommend.

  1. Watch your episode of The Boys season 4 in full on your favorite device. You can minimize the use of X-Ray.

  2. Once you’re done, you’ll want to use the X-Ray feature specifically for trivia purposes. If you’re on a laptop, move your cursor over and click “X-Ray IMDB” or “All” in the upper left corner. If you’re on a TV, press the button on your remote a second time and select “X-Ray.” If you’re on a mobile device, switch out of landscape mode.

  3. Go to the ‘trivia’ tab. And now the fun part. Expand on a piece of trivia and X-Ray gives you the ability to not only read it, but also jump straight to the part of the episode it relates to with “Jump to scene.” This allows you to easily re-watch important scenes, taking into account the context in which you recorded the scene.

  1. You may be able to access bonus content videos for The Boys Season 4 under the ‘Bonus Content’ tab, depending on what kind of device you are using.

  2. Not every Prime Video title has trivia, but you can still use X-Ray in other ways. If you’re trying to identify a song, X-Ray will even tell you the minute marker. Check out our review for more details on what Amazon’s streamer has to offer.
