Wayne Hennessey has been sent off in Wales with Iran for a horrible kung fu kick on his Iranian opponent.
As Mehdi Taremi ran through the goal, the Welsh keeper came off his line to clear the ball. However, the Nottingham Forest star completely missed the ball and instead made high contact with the striker’s face.
The referee initially waved a yellow card at the 35-year-old before VAR advised him to review the incident on the pitch’s monitor.
On closer inspection, he overturned his original decision and sent Hennessey off, leaving Rob Page’s side down to 10 men for the rest of the match.
The Wales coach dragged Aaron Ramsey off the pitch and replaced him with backup stopper Danny Ward.
Wales opened the tournament on Monday with a cautious display against the United States, with captain Gareth Bale scoring a late penalty to save a point.
