Teachers may enjoy paid summer vacations, but the rest of the year isn’t exactly smooth sailing.
Some school staff shared their biggest annoyances with parents.

In a Reddit after On a page specifically for teachers, a user asked other teachers to share “things that irritate them.”
The original poster stated that her biggest pet peeve was “parents who bring their obviously sick child.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I get that you have to pay bills,” the Redditor wrote.
“We will tell you [that] You can’t get them in or call them in a few hours.”
Other teachers took to the comments section en masse to share their opinions on the worst parenting habits.
“Parents who dress their children in cute clothes that the child cannot put on by themselves,” said one teacher.
“Just like with shoes with bows, rompers, tight pants with buttons and belts, a child needs to practice his independence and going to the potty is not the right time for that.”
Another commenter revealed a common mistake parents make when dropping off their kids that does more harm than good.
“When parents hang around longer than necessary because their child keeps getting angry when they drop them off,” the teacher wrote.
“Man, they put on a show for you, and they’re always okay as soon as you leave. I promise you, you’re just making it worse.”
“Parents who let their kids bring stuffed animals from home,” suggested a third Reddit user.
“I already know there will be arguments and that one parent will be angry that the ‘magic’ has been lost.”
Another teacher shared her struggles with the gentle parenting style.
“Parents who don’t punish their children at all,” the commentator explained.
“The type who takes ‘soft parenting’ to the extreme, without any consequences.”
The biggest annoyances of parents of teachers
Educators on Reddit shared some of the most annoying habits that parents are often guilty of. These include:
- Dressing children in clothes they can’t wear yourself, including shoes with bows and rompers.
- Hanging around too long after deposition, which encourages persistent tantrums.
- Allow children to bring toys to school.
- Overdoing it with “soft parenting” and failure in discipline bad behavior.
- To be late drop off and pick up.
She gave the example of a mother who “reprimanded” her son for pushing over another child on the playground.
“Mom pulls him aside and says, ‘Please don’t do that again, we use loving hands,’ and that was it,” she recalls.
“Honestly, sometimes there is a REASON why your child is being such a horror.”
“If school doesn’t start until 9:00 and you don’t drop your child off until 9:20, then your child has missed something and it disrupts the rest of the class,” another teacher noted.
“And don’t be late for an opening line either.”
