We bought the ugliest house on the street and transformed it into our dream home
A COUPLE have revealed how they bought the “ugliest house on the street” and with a few simple DIYs they increased the price of the property by more than double.
Elena and her husband Bob bought a run-down and outdated house for £208,000, intending to flip it and sell it on.
However, they were so impressed with how it turned out that they decided to go ahead with it.
When they first bought the property, it looked incredibly old-fashioned, with white lace curtains, dated display cabinets and cheap-looking recessed dome lights.
The carpets were beige, portraits hung at odd angles on the walls, and a gaudy, gigantic gold mirror took up most of the wall in the dining room.
The bathroom was bright pinkThe ceiling fans looked archaic and none of the furniture looked like it had been replaced in at least 50 years.
The couple from Canada immediately started transforming the building and completely stripped it of the possessions of the previous owners.
They stripped the walls, removed the floor and demolished walls.
The couple worked tirelessly repainting the entire house, adding a new staircase and replacing the carpets with tile floors.
The house now looks completely unrecognizable, and Elena and Bob have described it as “priceless”.
Sharing a video of the transformation on their YouTube channel. @dithuis5000they revealed that the ugly chandelier in the dining room has been replaced with a chic glass lamp.
The walls have been stripped back to reveal stylish exposed brick, and hanging plants flow from the bedroom ceiling, creating an elegant waterfall effect.
The bathroom is completely covered in black and white tiles and the kitchen door has been demolished, creating a beautiful brick arch.
The house is now worth £445,000, meaning the price has more than doubled.
The transformation has likely impressed many people, as the video has racked up a whopping 1.5 million views on the video sharing platform.
YouTube users rushed to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.
