Heidi Bennett from Staffordshire decided to tidy up her hallway with her fiancé George with a clever storage solution.

The project involved creating a hidden nook under the lower stairs, which can be lifted up to store items such as shoes and other items that take up unnecessary space in the room.

It took Heidi and George four hours to put together the secret hatch and they spent just £25 on materials, including wood for the nailing, gas props and door hinges, all bought from B&Q.

“We got inspired when we saw something similar on a DIY page I follow,” said Heidi, a pediatric nurse.

“I used a 70s trick to transform my wardrobe from boring to fab!”

Generation Z has recently rediscovered the trend of knowing your color type.

And Fabulous deputy fashion editor Abby McHale goes back to the original color consultancy to take a look at hers.

“My wardrobe looks like a rainbow has exploded in it. Name a color and I’m pretty sure I have something of that shade in it. And while I love neutrals, I’m definitely not afraid to wear bright colors.

That said, I have no idea what colors actually “suit me.” So with the color analysis filters popping up all over TikTok right now, I’m intrigued.

But this is far from a new phenomenon. The trend first exploded in the late 1970s with Colour Me Beautiful, the groundbreaking book on the subject by highly regarded colour consultant Carole Jackson.

Decades later, the Colour Me Beautiful movement is still going strong, with 220 consultants across the country. They now categorise people as light, deep, warm, cool, bright or soft.

I booked an appointment (£160 for 90 minutes) with colour consultant Angi Jones to try it out and I found it to be a great experience.

She tells me that I prefer to wear gold for jewelry, that blushing pinks, ruby reds and warmer blues are my favorite colors and that I should avoid cooler shades as they emphasize the blue undertones of my dark under-eye circles.

Having your home colored is an investment that will last for decades.

Once you know what your mistake is, you can never make the mistake again.”

“We have been living here for a year now after buying our first house together and want to get rid of all the clutter that has been accumulating in the hallway in the new storage space.

“It was actually very simple to make.

“George lifted the carpet and traced the outline, then cut it out steps using a jigsaw.

“He then built a wooden support structure to reinforce the staircase construction.

“We then installed the hinges and gas struts and cut and re-laid the carpet.”

Heidi later shared the results in a post on Facebookwhich has received 8,000 likes so far.
