We stayed at the worst rated and cheapest Disney hotel for $150 a night – this is what it was REALLY like
It is ‘the place where dreams come true.’
But two avid travelers have also highlighted the less dreamy side of Disney in the form of one of the “worst rated hotels.”
YouTubers Lucas and Jacob Cruikshank stayed overnight at the park’s All-Star Sports Resort in Florida.
After reading dozens of negative online reviews on Reddit and Tripadvisor, the two called the hotel the “worst-rated and cheapest Disney World hotel.”
To find out if the complaints were justified, the siblings paid $150 for a standard room.
YouTube brothers Lucas and Jacob Cruikshank spent a night at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
After reading dozens of negative online reviews on Reddit and Tripadvisor, the two called it “the worst-rated and cheapest Disney World hotel”
In the introduction, Jacob explains that the sports hotel was built in 1994 and is currently a three-star hotel.
On Tripadvisor it currently has four out of five stars based on 5,669 reviews, which they say is actually ‘pretty good’.
After exploring the grounds, where huge sports objects are set up in various places, they check into their room, number 2128.
Jacob explains that the room is located in a basketball-themed part of the hotel.
When the brothers walk into the room, they seem disappointed that there is no sports decoration in it.
And to top it all off, the only Disney accent they’ll see is a framed photo of Mickey, Minnie, and Donald above the bed.
Jacob notes, “This hotel room is pretty basic. It’s really not as much of a sports theme.”
Lucas describes the accommodation as ‘simple’ accommodation.
Entering the room, the brothers seem disappointed to find no sports decorations inside
When they investigate the room, they discover, among other things, a double bed that can be folded out of the wall and a bathroom
The shower cabin is equipped with Disney themed products
When they explore the room, they discover, among other things, a double bed that folds out of the wall, an Amazon Alexa device and a bathroom with a shower and Disney-themed products.
After settling into the room, Lucas and Jacob discuss some of the bad reviews they’ve read about the resort.
Some complaints center on the “paper-thin walls” and one reviewer complained about a cleaner entering their room at 8am on check-out day while they were still showering.
Lucas says his biggest problem with the place is that there are no amenities, ‘not even a gym.’
While other Disney resorts have multiple restaurants, he says All-Star Sports only has one.
Speaking of food, for dinner they go to the End Zone restaurant. Lucas goes for garlic shrimp, steamed rice and seasonal vegetables, while Jacob goes for pasta with chicken and parmesan.
While other Disney resorts have multiple restaurants, the brothers note that All-Star Sports has only one food hall
They give the food a five to six out of ten rating, and Lucas says he gave it a lower rating because their meals were served on paper plates
Although they say the flavors are acceptable, Jacob is not impressed with the atmosphere of the place.
He tells his brother, “I feel like I’m visiting a family member who is dying in the hospital, and this is the meal I’m being given.”
Overall, they gave the food a five to six out of ten rating. Lucas indicated that he rated the food lower because it was served on paper plates.
From the dining room, the duo visit the resort’s gardens, grounds and arcade before heading to bed.
But as soon as they get into bed, they see dirt on one of the blankets and they zoom in on the dirt.
The next morning they pass judgement on their stay.
Jacob tells viewers: ‘I slept well, but that bed creaks quite a bit. There were so many moments where I thought, “I think the bed is just broken.”‘
He also says he understands the reviews about the thin walls.
To date, Cruikshank’s video review of Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort has been viewed more than 90,000 times, with many viewers reflecting on their own experiences there
And while they had no major complaints, Lucas still calls it “the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.”
To date, Cruikshank’s video review of Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort has been viewed more than 90,000 times, with many viewers reminiscing about their own experiences there.
One viewer wrote: ‘That was the resort I stayed at when I was there in 2023!! We stayed in the tennis area and honestly no complaints.
‘I even called the front desk halfway through our trip to ask for more cups for the room and they were there before I could get back (so they were very responsive).
‘When I saw this, I felt like I was back in my element again.’
Another, less enthusiastic commenter said, “School groups (cheerleaders, football teams, etc.) typically stay at All-Star Sports.
‘Those children have a lot of energy, which they lose in the common areas outside the hotel rooms.’
