We test eyeshadow sticks that are perfect for beginners – one option will not budge at all

EYESHADOW can seem intimidating for makeup beginners, but eyeshadow sticks make it foolproof.

You paint them directly on the skin and can spread them with your fingers, so no additional tools are required. I put three of them to the test.

Rimmel Wonder’last Shadow Stick, £8.99, boots: There is a great selection of shades in this range, but they are not all the same.

The lighter ones have very little pigment, but the darker shades are gorgeous.

They all glide nice and easily and do not pull on the delicate skin around the eyes.

Plus, the glitter finish is very forgiving, so it won’t matter if you don’t blend it quite right.

Perfect for the Christmas party season.

Morphe Mixed Signals Double Ended Cream and Liquid Shadow Stick, £16, nl.morphe.com: This is not just an eyeshadow stick, it also comes with a chunky glitter liquid shadow topper on the other side.

So you get two products for the price (and space) of one.

The stick itself is decently pigmented, although slightly drier than the Vieve, so it takes a little more work to blend out and can feel heavy if you apply too much.

The liquid is a little messy to apply, but once it sets it doesn’t move around so you don’t have to worry about fallout or glitter everywhere – which for me is the main draw.

Vieve Eye Wand, £25 for 1.4g, cultbeauty.co.uk: I’ve used these sticks pretty much every day since their launch five years ago.

I’m a makeup pro—I go from no lips to an Angelina Jolie-worthy pout with eyeshadow

So they are definitely my favorite of the bunch.

There is no glitter in sight, which is what I prefer for everyday use.

They’re creamy enough that you can blend them out almost completely, or build them up for a more saturated color.

And once they dry, they don’t move anymore, so you don’t end up with tiger-like streaks on your lid where product has collected during the day.

I can’t rave about them enough.
