We transformed our boring kitchen with an £11 purchase, trolls said it wouldn’t last long
A HOMEOWNER has left people stunned after telling how well her £11 kitchen renovation has held up.
Ellie originally went to TikTok to share a slideshow of photos showing how she transformed her bland kitchen into something more in keeping with her taste.
She added that she is getting married this year and that the tiles she actually wants are therefore not available because they are so expensive.
That’s why she chose self-adhesive tiles as a budget-friendly alternative.
“These adhesive tiles COMPLETELY transformed the space,” she wrote in the original TikTok video.
“SO easy to use, the whole kitchen was done in less than two hours!”
While most people who commented on the video praised her room transformation, there were also those who thought the tiles wouldn’t last long.
“You have to be careful though, they are not heat resistant, so be careful with heat sources next to the stove,” someone warned.
As another grumbled, “It used to be more beautiful.”
Ellie then returned to the social media site to share an update on the tiles four months later.
“I am absolutely shocked that there was no lift at all (not even behind the stove!),” she wrote.
Ellie added that not only are they “super easy to keep clean” but they have also “retained their glossy shine,” meaning they “still look the same as day one.”
“We thought we would have to replace them by now, given how cheap they are. But we can say that these will last a while longer,” she continued.
“I would recommend it to anyone who wants to renovate their home on a budget.”
In the TikTok slideshow, she wrote: “We all deserve the kitchen of our dreams, without it costing us too much money!!”
The tiles actually come from Temu and people were so impressed with the tiles that they shared their thoughts about the tiles in the review section of the site.
“Oh my God, these are beautiful!” said one.
“They look so real, it’s like thick rubber!!!”
