We were tired of mosquitoes eating us alive – our trick to get rid of them is pretty
A COUPLE has cracked the code to keeping pesky mosquitoes at bay.
Their favorite insect repellent that not only works, but also looks good.
TikTokker Ashley Quillin (@ashquillin5) revealed the useful trick in a video on the social media platform.
“When you’re tired of mosquitoes eating you alive,” the text read.
The scene outside looked serene, with her partner at the table.
“We learned at Hilton Head [that] “Bubbles keep mosquitoes away,” she added.
BUG OFF
The camera then moved to a bubble machine blowing bubbles on their patio.
There are mixed opinions about whether bubbles actually keep mosquitoes away, but some believe that it is the air produced by bubble machines that causes mosquitoes to fly away.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) advises using insect repellent, wearing protective clothing and installing screens on windows.
Many people swear by essential oils, such as citronella, which are often sold as mosquito repellents.
Several TikTokers responded to the technique in the comments below the video.
“It’s very beautiful,” someone wrote, to which Quillin replied, “I know, right?”
Some said they couldn’t find an effective trick and so gave up.
“Nothing worked, so we screened in our back porch to make it usable,” one said.
“These are goals,” Quillin wrote back. “But until then, we’re enjoying the bubbles.”
Others hoped that the method would actually help.
“I live in Florida and have that premium blood they love,” wrote another. “Please tell me this works.”
“Worked for us,” Quillin replied. “I hope it works for you too.”
“Now I’m arguing with my husband about buying a bubble machine,” noted yet another.
Some had ideas to take the concept one step further and actually keep mosquitoes at bay.
“Add essential oil to the bubble mixture,” one person commented, with Quillin calling it a “good idea.”
“I wonder if adding vanilla extract to the bubble machine would work? I wear vanilla body spray all the time and they leave me alone,” someone else said.
