Wedding dress designer says ‘color’ trick saves money on bridesmaid dresses
MOST bridesmaids know how hard it is to bite their tongues about the sky-high costs associated with marrying a friend.
Bridal gown designer Pnina Tornai knows all about splurging – Paris Hilton is a fan of it, after all – but her tips will help you style every bridesmaid like a star without going into debt.
Brides who don’t want to become bridezillas can follow a famous designer’s tips when choosing bridesmaid dresses for their bridesmaids.
One of her best tricks will make any bridesmaid happy.
“A lot of brides these days are choosing a colour scheme and letting their bridesmaids choose their own dresses in those colours,” she told The US Sun.
“I think this is the best way to make sure all the important women in your life feel and look their best,” she continued.

This will also help your team save money.
“Everyone can choose a dress that they would like to wear again,” Tornai said.
“It can be a silhouette that flatters her and a price that fits within her budget,” she added.
Finding luxury for less doesn’t have to be stressful.
THE KEY TO ELEGANCE
The designer, who created a dress for Amber Rose’s big day, believes that one particular colour is always a real eye-catcher.
Most people won’t have to spend a lot of time searching for a specific style if they follow her A-star-approved advice.
“I think black is the most elegant and classic color for bridesmaids, and if you choose black it makes it even easier,” she said.
“Some of your girls may already have a dress they can wear or borrow from a friend,” she added.
It will definitely help the bridesmaids’ wallets if they can rummage through their own wardrobe.
BEST BLING ADVICE
Don’t add too many accessories.
“I recommend bridesmaids wear delicate accessories because bridesmaids are there to support the bride!” she said.
She also believes that a small gift can have a big impact on the memory of the big day, or on the fact that you were part of it.
“Many of my brides give their bridesmaids a small piece of jewelry as a thank you for being there on their special day. Often, this piece of jewelry can also serve as the finishing touch to their outfit,” she says.
The pearl and black diamond huggie hoops she designed with Jared for her fashion jewelry collection were created specifically with this in mind.
She also loves when wedding dresses can be re-worn, whether it’s a classic dress or accessories.
IT’S ALL IN THE CHOICES
As she previously told the US Sun, how you cut costs depends on what’s most important to you.
For some brides, shoes are the star of the show and a dress with a slit can make them stand out even more.
People who prefer not to spend too much money on heels can opt for shoes in neutral colors and save them for a later occasion.
If you’re a bride and a bridesmaid, a corset back can also save you money on alterations.
She believes that the three most important things you should spend money on are hair, makeup, and your dress.
Tornai also wants to ensure that you do not wait until the last minute if something still needs to be adjusted.
“Order the dress well in advance so you have enough time to have it altered if necessary!” she said.
She said that most bridesmaid dresses are simpler than wedding dresses (less skirt layers and nude illusions) and therefore less expensive.
While many brides also fall in love with Tornai’s designs on TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress, there are also plenty of big name fans of her bridesmaid dresses.
Paris Hilton, singer Aniita and internet personality Hannah Stocking wore blue satin bridesmaid dresses to YouTuber Lele Pons’ wedding.
