Bloodshot eyes after doing your eyelashes

If explained by the experts at Stacy LashBloodshot eyes after eyelash extensions are a common problem, and not just among people who are allergic to eyelash extensions.

Redness can occur from a variety of causes, including chemical burns, allergic reactions, irritation from improper application, infection, and pre-existing eye conditions.

Eyelash Expert Reveals Mistakes That Could Be Harmful to Your Eyes

BEAUTY EXPERT Nouveau Lashes, part of the HD Brows brand, has revealed which habits can be harmful not only to your health, but also to your beauty.

1. Rub your eyes

Debbie Law, International Lash Trainer, said: “Although rubbing your eyes may seem harmless enough, rubbing too hard can thin the cornea, break blood vessels and result in bloodshot eyes and dark circles under the eyes.”

2. Excessive use of extensions

Be aware that overuse can lead to eye infections, allergic reactions and damage to your natural lashes.

3. Wearing mascara too often

Debbie said: “Most of the damage that occurs from wearing mascara comes from removing it. That’s why wearing mascara every day can cause your lashes to break and make removing makeup more difficult.”

4. How to remove false eyelashes

Not only can this cause you to lose your eyelashes, it can also damage the hair follicles, preventing them from growing back.

How to Treat Bloodshot Eyes After Eyelash Extensions

If you experience red eyes after having eyelash extensions applied, it is important that you take care of your eyes as soon as possible.

Experts advise treating the redness with:

  • Eye drops – these drops help lubricate the eyes and reduce redness and swelling. However, it is best to consult your eye doctor before using eye drops to ensure they are safe for your particular eye condition.
  • Use a cold compress – soak a washcloth in cold water, wring it out and place it over your closed eyes for about 10-15 minutes. A bag of frozen peas or a gel eye mask is just as effective.
  • Tea Bags – Similar to the cool compress trick, place moist, cool tea bags over your eyes for a few minutes. The trick works because of the tannins in tea which can soothe redness and swelling.
