We’re testing new lip oils in all price ranges – one of which will be great when the festive season arrives
LIP oils have been Gen Z’s favorite since TikTok sent Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil into the stratosphere during the pandemic.
But anyone who lived in the nineties will still be bothered by its sticky texture.
But new solid oils give the shine of a gloss and the ease of a balm.
I tested three of them.
Budget
NYX Professional Make-up Fat Oil Click Slick, £8.99 for 2g: This one is the least sticky of all the ones I tried, but it is also the least shiny.
Plus, it has more of a traditional balm texture than an oil, which allows it to cling lightly to the lips and also absorbs faster.
The formula also contains glitter, which might be a bit much for everyday use, but is great for the holidays.
If you’re looking for something that will hydrate your lips and give them a hint of color, this is a great option, especially considering the price.

Middle class
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Stix, £23 for 3.6g: I tried this one last, thinking I had seen everything there was to see, but I think this option definitely outperformed the others.
It’s much more pigmented, meaning you’ll need a mirror to reapply, but it’s also the richest, glossiest formula.
So you actually get two products in one.
There is only one negative point about this product: you have to reapply it quite often.
But a little goes a long way and there is more product in the bullet than the other two, so it will still last a long time.

Luxury
Clarins Lip Oil Balm, £27 for 2.9g: I’m a big fan of the original Clarins lip oil and this one definitely falls short.
If you’re already a fan, you’ll love this one too.
They have the same sheer shade and feel just as hydrating, but are easier to reapply.
The formula is somewhere between Fenty and NYX Professional Makeup. It is a bit firmer and easy to apply, but offers much more hydration and shine than NYX.
It’s a very good option, especially if you don’t want it to look like you’re wearing lipstick.

Choice of the week
It’s not often that a new beauty product launches on a Sunday, but that’s not the only reason this launch is so exciting.
If, like me, you find that your skin doesn’t do well with topical vitamin C, I highly recommend trying Drunk Elephant C-Luma Hydrabright Serum , which retails for £60.
It is specially developed for sensitive skin and is therefore ideal for first-time users. The formula hydrates the skin and prevents irritation. It brightens dull skin and combats pigmentation.
