A four-year-old girl was abducted by a stranger from a busy Westfield shopping centre in Sydney on Sunday evening, before her mother found her in another store.

According to police, an unknown woman approached the girl at a store on the corner of Westfield Eastgardens around 6:20 p.m., picked her up and carried her to another store.

The girl’s mother was able to get her daughter back after finding them at the second store.

Police have released a photo of a woman that may help with the investigation.

The woman is described as having a Pacific Islander/Maori appearance and having short black hair.

She was seen wearing a red headband, black jacket, black pants and a multi-colored shoulder bag.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
