This came a day after India worked with Canada to secure the extradition of Dalla, who was arrested on October 28 over a shooting incident in Ontario.
“Arsh Dalla is a declared perpetrator in more than 50 cases of murder, attempted murder, extortion and terrorist acts, including terrorist financing. A Red Corner Notice was issued against him in May 2022. He was declared an individual terrorist in India in 2023. In July 2023, the Indian government had requested the Canadian government for his provisional arrest,” said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
This comes amid rising tensions between India and Canada after the two countries withdrew each other’s diplomats. Relations have reached a low point in recent days, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemning attacks on Hindu temples in Canada.
