What the stars of the iconic fitness show Aerobics Oz Style look like now

It was a giant of early morning television, encouraging countless Australians to start the day with a bit of low-impact fitness.

And despite being off the air for almost twenty years, Aerobics Oz Style still holds a special place in our collective hearts.

The hugely popular show ran for an impressive 23 years on Channel Ten, starting in 1982 and continuing uninterrupted until it was finally axed in 2005. Its popularity even reached (and extended) into Europe, where the show aired on Sky Sports. in Great Britain.

The brainchild of entrepreneur Harry Michaels, who also had a role in the iconic Australian series Number 96, Aerobics Oz Style offered viewers the chance to workout from the comfort of their home in iconic Sydney locations.

During the show’s 23 years, the format never faltered. Each episode lasted 30 minutes and was divided into four segments: a warm-up, two main exercise segments, and a cool-down.

Each show was centered around a theme including legs and abs, with kickboxing, Latin dancing and pilates being included in later episodes.

The show became somewhat of a cultural phenomenon, thanks in part to the iconic aerobics fashion worn by the show’s cast.

It also inadvertently attracted a surprising audience of children in the ’90s, who turned on their televisions early to catch the popular Cheez TV that aired next.

But perhaps the biggest draw to this iconic show were the presenters, who for decades wore the Lycra at dawn and got Aussies moving.
