What You Need to Know About Reheating KFC
Many people enjoy a KFC takeaway meal, but often our eyes are bigger than our stomachs and we order way too much.
Here’s our guide to reheating your leftover KFC chicken.
Can you reheat KFC?
That’s good news, because yes, you can reheat KFC meals.
If you find that you have way too much chicken in your bucket, simply transfer it to a container and store it in the refrigerator.
As long as you store your takeout meal properly, you can safely reheat it the next day.
However, we do not recommend heating your KFC in the microwave.
This is because the quality of the chicken breading does not remain the same: it becomes soggy and soft, and the chicken can also become rubbery.
But if you’re at work and only have a microwave at your disposal, we still have some handy tips for you.
What is the best way to reheat KFC?
It is best to heat up your KFC in the oven or air fryer.
For the oven: Place the chicken pieces on a baking sheet covered with aluminum foil.
Brush the chicken with some oil so that it does not stick to the foil and bake it in the oven for 15 minutes at a temperature of approximately 180 degrees Celsius.
If you only have a microwave available to reheat your KFC, place the chicken on a plate covered with paper towels and cover the chicken with that as well.
This is to absorb the moisture from the chicken, which will keep your leftovers from being soggy.
How long it takes to reheat the chicken depends on how many pieces you have.
If you have one piece, it will take one to two minutes.
If you have two pieces, on the other hand, it will take three minutes. Add one minute for each additional piece you have.
For the air fryer: Place the chicken in a single layer in the basket and cook for four minutes.
Now the leftover fried chicken is hot and crispy.
According to The Spruce Eats, a minimum temperature of 160 degrees Celsius is required.
How many times can you reheat KFC?
KFC may only be reheated once.
Please note that sometimes fast food is pre-cooked and some time has passed since you ordered it.
It is best to reheat KFC only once, within one day of purchase.
Leaving it out at room temperature, or even in the refrigerator for too long, can lead to the growth of bacteria, which can lead to food poisoning.
