WhatsApp for iOS gets a new concept label and a new home screen widget
WhatsApp for iOS has introduced a new feature that allows users to view their drafted and unsent messages without opening a specific chat. With the latest update to the app, a new one Preliminary version label appears next to the chat containing an incomplete message, allowing the user to quickly find it without having to scroll through the chat list. The instant messaging platform has also introduced a new widget for the iPhone home screen that allows you to find chats based on different categories.
Concept label in WhatsApp
Draft label (first spotted by WABetaInfo) was introduced with the WhatsApp for iOS app version 24.22.83. WhatsApp’s official changelog says that message drafts are now indicated with a Preliminary version label in the chat list. It potentially eliminates the need to individually check each chat for unsent or incomplete messages, allowing users to immediately identify conversations with unsent or incomplete messages.
The feature was first reported last month in the WhatsApp for iOS beta app version 24.18.10.72 for users registered through Apple’s TestFlight program. With the latest version of WhatsApp, it would have been widely rolled out to all WhatsApp for iOS users.
Moreover, the instant messaging platform has also rolled out a new widget for iPhone, which offers new ways to sort the chats from the iPhone home screen. Users can now choose chats from different categories such as Recent, Favorites, Pinned or Frequently Contacted. This feature uses the iOS widget API for real-time data updates and improved system integration.
This feature is also rolling out with the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS. Although Gadgets 360 staff were able to verify the availability of the draft label, the new iPhone home screen widget could not be found. WhatsApp says its rollout could happen in the coming weeks.
