WhatsApp makes it easier to access common chats with favorites filter
WhatsApp is rolling out a new update that will allow users to set certain contacts as favorites, the company announced on Tuesday. The feature will allow users to save the people they contact frequently to the top of their screen in WhatsApp Chats and Calls, and will also be available as a filter on the instant messaging platform. The development comes weeks after WhatsApp introduced Context Cards, which promised better security in situations where users are added to unknown group chats.

Features in development
In addition to the rollout of favorites, WhatsApp is also said to be testing several new features, including a live translation feature for chats, transcription for voice messages, and a dedicated video notes mode for the camera user interface (UI). The aforementioned features are still in development and may only be available to beta testers registered through the Google Play Beta program.
