WhatsApp may let users choose favorite themes from multiple design options
WhatsApp for Android may be working on a new feature that will let users choose default themes for chats and chat bubbles from a variety of design styles, according to claims from a feature tracker. The alleged feature would offer users multiple design options through a new user interface (UI), potentially expanding customization options on the instant messaging platform. The development comes amid reports of another WhatsApp in development that will allow users to mention others in status updates.
More theme options on WhatsApp for Android
According to According to WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, the messaging client is developing this feature for release in a future version of the app. It was spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.20.12. After the rollout, users will likely be able to choose their favorite options from multiple design styles.
As visible in the screenshot (above), the colors of the chat bubbles and backgrounds are automatically adjusted to complement the selected theme. The feature tracker claims that users will also have the option to choose a background color that is independent of the chat bubble, allowing them to further fine-tune the customization.
The option to choose from multiple themes is said to be present in WhatsApp’s settings for Android. It is said to be applied to all conversations by default, though users can still choose to manually override it for a specific chat.
Notably, the ability to choose a default theme was first spotted through the feature tracker in WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.24.17.19.
WABetaInfo claims that the new ability to choose a default theme from options is still in development and is not even available to beta testers registered through the Google Play Beta program. However, it is crucial to note that while the instant messaging platform may be working on various new features for different platforms, not all features will make it to the public release.
