When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?

Now that the 4th of July has passed, Amazon’s Prime Day is fast approaching. As in previous years, we can expect deep discounts, along with door-to-door deals and flash sales on a wide range of products, from tech gadgets to kitchen essentials and more. Since Amazon launched Prime Day in 2015, bargain hunters and savvy shoppers have been eagerly awaiting the Amazon event. This sales event traditionally takes place in the summer. The company has other sales throughout the year, including major shopping events in October and a new Big Spring Sale that took place earlier this year. However, nothing quite compares to the annual Prime Day madness.

This story is part of Amazon Prime DayCNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to find the best deals.

If you’ve been waiting on the edge of your seat for Amazon’s Prime Day sale, don’t worry; you won’t have to wait much longer. Previous Amazon Prime Day Dates

Ever since Amazon launched its first Prime Day sale in 2015, the company has (mostly) scheduled the event around the same time of year. In fact, aside from a few recent years when the dates were pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon typically kicks off the sale sometime in the middle two weeks of July.

Here are all the previous Amazon Prime Day dates:

  • Prime Day 2015: July 15
  • Prime Day 2016: July 12
  • Prime Day 2017: July 11-12
  • Prime Day 2018: July 16-17
  • Prime Day 2019: July 15-16
  • Prime Day 2020: October 13-14
  • Prime Day 2021: June 21-22
  • Prime Day 2022: July 12-13
  • Prime Early Access Sale 2022: October 11-12
  • Prime Day 2023: July 11-12
  • Prime Big Deal Days 2023: October 10-11

As you can see, Prime Day was pretty much locked into an early-to-mid-July schedule for the first five years, before uncertainty surrounding the pandemic in 2020 forced the company to move the sale to the fall of that year. In 2021, however, Amazon was quick to move it back up on the calendar, kicking off the event at an unusual June slot.

For 2022, Amazon moved the event back to its usual July spot, kicking off on July 12, though the October slot was used for the Prime Early Access Sale, marking the first time the company has run two Prime Day-style sales in one year. Amazon followed that pattern for 2023 with a Prime Day in July, followed by a second Prime Day in October with the company’s Prime Big Deal Days event. With Prime Day 2024 dates now confirmed, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for news of a second event this fall.
