When is Deadpool and Wolverine coming to Disney Plus? Streaming release date speculation, is it worth watching, and more
Deadpool and Wolverine is in theaters now (internationally; in the US, it opens July 26) – and while you should see it on the biggest screen possible to fully appreciate it, we suspect you’re already wondering when it’s coming to Disney Plus.
So, when will the latest Marvel movie land on Disney’s primary streaming platform? The short answer is: we don’t know. That doesn’t stop us from speculating about when it might hit one of the world’s best streaming services, though, and armed with evidence of when other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films made the jump to Disney Plus, we can guess when that might happen. So, here’s when to expect Deadpool3 so you can watch it at home.
Does Deadpool and Wolverine Have a Release Date on Disney Plus?
As mentioned, not yet. The Marvel Phase 5 film didn’t hit theaters in the US until July 26 – in some international territories, including the UK, it launched a day earlier – so it’ll be a while before you see it Deadpool and Wolverine on your own TV. Oh, and if it proves to be as successful as industry insiders claim (it’s expected to gross more than $1 billion at the global box office), its likely money-making theatrical run could be a long one.
Either way, we can hazard a guess at the streaming release date based on the debuts of other recent MCU films on the service. Check out the list below to see when every recent Marvel film, starting with 2021’s Black Widowlaunched on Disney Plus:
After a highly inconsistent release schedule that ranged from 47 to 82 days, Marvel has since committed to a more regular launch pattern. Black Panther 2Nowadays, MCU films typically release on the streamer about 13 weeks (roughly 90 days) after they hit the big screen.
When do we expect to use this data? Deadpool and Wolverine to carve its way onto Disney Plus? An early October launch would be the most likely option, based on the nearly 90-day gap between recent movies’ big screen releases and their Disney Plus debuts.
However, we don’t think the X-Men-related film will bring The Merc With a Mouth and his adamantium-clawed mutant friend to Disney Plus until early November. That’ll be largely thanks to Agatha Always Alreadythe next MCU Disney Plus series, with a two-episode premiere on Wednesday, September 18.
With seven more episodes per week thereafter, WandaVision spin-off doesn’t end until November 6. Marvel and Disney don’t want viewers’ attention to be divided between that series and Deadpool and WolverineSo don’t be surprised if the only Marvel movie of 2024 doesn’t hit the platform until a week later, on November 13.
