When is Fortnite OG coming back?
What’s new in Fortnite?
Fortnite just swapped the loot pool for Fortnite Reload. The Lever Action Shotgun, Tactical Submachine Gun, and Hand Cannon have been removed. In their place are the Thunder Pump Shotgun, Twin Mag SMG, and Mammoth Pistol.
Fortnite OG surprised players last year by offering them reworked versions of several classic seasons, changing every week. It proved to be a huge success, with player numbers skyrocketing in the month or so Fortnite OG was live. But when is OG Fortnite Back to the game?
Luckily, the current battle royale title regularly receives updates from the developers that give a taste of what’s to come, and we now know that Fortnite OG is indeed set to return. Details are scarce right now, but now that we’re well into 2024, the news is imminent.
Here’s everything you need to know about when Fortnite OG was written to return. We’ll be covering everything that was officially revealed by Epic Games, some info on what to expect, and a recap of how things went down last time. As news breaks, this page will be updated.

What is Fortnite OG?
Fortnite OG launched in November 2023, switching the game all the way back to the 2018 map. It started with Season 5 specifically, which saw the return of Tilted Towers, a throwback weapon loot pool, and various OG skins available to purchase in the store. Each week, Epic Games would advance the clock to the next season, rotating through Season 6, Season 7/8, and then Season 9/10.
The map went back to a more classic style, visually and in terms of level design. Iconic locations like Frosty Flights returned, as did old-school vehicles like the X-4 Stormwing. This lasted until December 2nd, 2023, when the game switched to a new season. Fortnite OG hasn’t been live in the game since then, but is scheduled to return this year.
What We Want to See in Fortnite OG Season 2
We don’t have any official details about what Fortnite OG will take it up if it comes back, but we definitely have some wishes for what we’d like to see. Specifically, we’d like to see Epic Games rotate through a different selection of classic seasons, without deviating too much from what the game was like in its 2018/2019 heyday. Overall, it would be great to see a Season 5 return again, with Tilted Towers as the main focus.
Although we would certainly like to see it Fortnite OG return, we don’t want it to be as short as last time. The absolutely massive player numbers during the first drop showed how hungry fans are for a more pared down and classic feeling Fortnite experience, so maybe it’s time for Fortnite OG to become its own mode. This would give players the choice to go back to 2018 whenever they want, while also having the new seasons run in parallel. This would of course split the player base considerably, so we doubt this is how things will work if Fortnite OG returns.
