The show sees 10 of the UK’s best amateur clothing designers compete in challenges to prove they have what it takes to land their dream job at M&S.

In the first episode of the show, the contestants showed their talents by designing their own women’s clothing.

And Mel, who is known for her iconic leopard print look, urged the budding fashion designers to create some epic statement pieces.

The Spice Girl looked effortlessly stylish as she judged the contestants, wearing the M&S Jersey Round Neck Midaxi Column Dress.

The dress is priced at £39.50 and is available in three different lengths: petite, regular and long.

The color is dark green and available in sizes 6 to 20.

A description on the M&S website reads: “With its flattering seams and gathered details, this feminine jersey dress is perfect for making a statement.

“It has a regular fit and a flattering column shape.

“The long sleeves are gently flared for a touch of drama and the flowy skirt falls to a modest, mid-length hem.

“An easy round neckline completes this stylish piece.”

Mel paired the dress with M&S Leather Block Heel Pointed Ankle Boots, priced at £69.50.

The shoes have an elegant cream color and are available in sizes 3 to 8.

To complete her look, Mel opted for the M&S Gold Link Chain with CZ, priced at £35.

Presenter Vernon Kay also looked handsome in the Extra Fine Merino Blend Knitted Polo Shirt from M&S.

Why Everyone Loves M&S

Deputy fashion editor Abby McHale told Fabulous why M&S is the store of the moment. She explained:

“M&S has really done a great job this season, there are so many good products to be excited about.

“A brand once known for its ‘frumpy fashion’, although that idea has long since disappeared, it is now one of the leading high streets for women’s clothing.

“The handbag range in particular is super strong, with a 170% sales rate against plan, and many more designer dupes at a fraction of the price.

“The brand is also now #1 for style perceptions, up from #3 last year. This is due to a very strong design team that is focused on modernizing the brand, taking into account not only how the pieces look, but also how easy they are to wear.

“Price is also an important factor as you can get a lot of good quality pieces for under £30.

“Having given us a sneak peek at the upcoming collection, there are so many more amazing pieces to keep an eye out for in the coming months.

“Think leopard print dresses, colourful co-ords, embroidered boho jackets, plus lots of swimwear and great accessories, as well as great wardrobe pieces that will last year after year.”

The shirt costs £55 and is available in tan or grey.

It is available in sizes small to 2XL and can be purchased in store or on the M&S website.

Vernon completed his look with a pair of Twin Pleat Stretch Trousers, priced at £40.

The trousers are available in black and navy blue and in three lengths: short, normal and long.

M&S: Dress The Nation airs Tuesdays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
