‘Who sent you money at pace?’: Rahul Gandhi ‘Safe’ attack on PM Modi after complaint against Vinod Tawde | India News – Times of India
Rahul reacted sharply to the controversy and used it to continue his dig at Prime Minister Modi’s ‘ek hain to safe hain’ poll ground. “Modiji, from whose ‘SAFE’ did these 5 crores come? Who looted the public’s money and sent you into the tempo?” the Congress leader posted on X.
The Congress leader had on Monday mocked the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek hai toh safe hai’ poll and alleged that there was a link between the slogan and the Dharavi redevelopment project given to the Adani Group.
At the press conference, Rahul had brought a metal safe and removed two posters from it. One poster showed a photo of industrialist Gautam Adani and Prime Minister Modi with the caption ‘Ek hai toh Safe hai’, while another showed a map of the project.
The slogan “Ek hai toh safe hai” is primarily to help Adani acquire land worth Rs one lakh crore through the Dharavi redevelopment project, he claimed.
Reacting to the Congress leader’s joke, Tawde invited him to Nalasopara to see the CCTV footage himself and prove the ‘money for votes’ claim.
Tawde went to
“If making such a statement without any information is not childishness, what is?” he added.
‘Baatenge aur jitenge’
Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray also made a “note jihad” jibe against the BJP and demanded strict action from the Election Commission.
Uddhav said merely registering a case against Tawde will not be enough.
“Is this BJP’s note jihad (for votes)? ‘Baatenge aur jitenge’ (will hand out cash to win). The entire Maharashtra has seen it (a video showing bundles of cash). Maharashtra will decide tomorrow,” Thackeray told reporters, taking a swipe at UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Batenge toh Katenge’ (divided we fall) slogan and ‘vote for Jihad’.
“Tawde was praised for toppling governments in some states and helping form new governments. Now the secret behind this has come to light,” he added.
Tawde denies any wrongdoing, BJP alleges conspiracy
Meanwhile, Tawde vehemently denied any wrongdoing, saying that “everything is visible in public and in the media, plus the hotel’s CCTV cameras”. The BJP claimed that the allegations against its senior leader were baseless and alleged a conspiracy by a ‘desperate’ opposition ahead of tomorrow’s vote.
“A meeting of Nalasopara MLAs was in progress. I went there to tell them about the Model Code of Conduct for voting day, how the voting machines will be sealed and what to do if an objection needs to be raised. of the party (Bahujan Vikas Aghadi), Appa Thakur and Kshitij thought we were handing out money. Let the election commission and the police make inquiries, let them get CCTV footage. I have been in the party for 40 years. Appa Thakur and Kshitij know me, and the entire party knows me. However, I believe that the Election Commission should conduct an impartial investigation,” Tawde said.
BJP MP and national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi backed Tawde and termed the allegations baseless. “Vinod Tawde is our national secretary and handles various functions of the party… The candidate of the constituency (Nalasopara) asked him to attend the meeting. He was close, so he agreed. Such meetings are done to instruct the party workers regarding the election process. We insist that the CCTV footage of the hotel and nearby areas be checked… Rs. 5 crores cannot be carried in a bag. It would be visible if someone had it on them… They should show evidence and not make unfounded accusations,” he said.
