Sydney Sweeney makes brief, awkward appearance at Samsung Unpacked event
Actress Sydney Sweeney has had a busy 2024: she hosted Saturday Night Live in March, starred opposite Dakota Johnson in the Hollywood flop Madame Web, and produced and starred in the non-horror film Immaculate. So maybe we shouldn’t have been surprised when Sweeney popped up for an awkward, sub-minute cameo at Samsung Unpacked in Paris on Wednesday.

Sweeney looked gorgeous as ever, sitting in the audience, and her photo was shown onstage as the company demonstrated its new Sketch to Image feature. Using AI, the feature turned a photo of Sweeney into a stylized avatar of her. When asked to look at it, Sweeney smiled hesitantly and muttered, “love it.”
And then Samsung rushed to the next item on the Galaxy AI checklist (NPU, GPU, and CPU performance). We could only guess how much Sweeney was paid for that brief appearance, and for her AI-generated likeness, and how many $400 Galaxy Rings (or trips to Paris) that salary could buy.

This wasn’t Sweeney’s first rodeo, er, Samsung event. She also appeared at Unpacked 2023 in Seoul, alongside K-Pop idol Wonyoung, and in an ad for the Z Flip 5 phone. (Wonyoung wasn’t there this year, perhaps because she’s known for use a competing iPhone.)
Sweeney will next be seen on the big screen in the Ron Howard-directed survival thriller Eden, due out in September. She will also star in Echo Valleyan upcoming drama from Apple Original Films.
