Why Aldi Australia shoppers are now stocking up on a $21 summer purchase

Aldi fans are rushing to the store to ‘stock up’ on a limited edition product that they claim will make summer drinks by the pool or sprinkler system even better.

One customer revealed that she recently bought Vok Cosmopolitan cocktail boxes in store and couldn’t get enough of them.

The 2-litre kegs of ready-to-drink cocktails are available across Australia, with the exception of Queensland and South Australia, as Aldi cannot sell alcohol there.

There are 9.5 standard drinks in the keg – which is not to be confused with the humble Australian goon bag.

‘It’s chic because you serve it in a glass and over ice. It even says so in the instructions,” said one fan.

The Cosmopolitan became famous thanks to the popular television show Sex and the City, in which the drink is featured in many episodes.

And according to Cosmopolitan aficionados, the vodka-based premix is ​​a steal at $20.99; it’s $8 more expensive at Dan Murphy’s.

It works out to about $2.20 per drink – which is also much cheaper than buying it.

The Vok bags have previously been available at Aldi, with one customer complaining that he had missed the Pina Colada option.

Another admitted that they did too, until they tried the Cosmopolitan.

“I just got this and I love it,” they said.

Others admitted they have also started stockpiling the drinks.

“They are perfect for summer and always sell out quickly, so I bought five of them,” said one woman.

“I’m stocking up too, for Christmas and all,” said another.

Others said they like to put the boxes in the freezer for a slushy summer cocktail.”

Aldi confirmed that the boxed cocktail was in limited supply after it appeared in its Special Buys range on October 16.

The popular Pina Colada ($22.99) and Lime Mojito ($19.99) will be in stock on December 18 “in time for Christmas,” according to an Aldi spokesperson.

”We’re excited to see customers enjoying our ready-to-drink cocktail drinks that are perfect for entertaining family and friends as we head into summer,” she added.
