Why fans are ‘disappointed’ with Queen Mary after they say photos of her royal visit to Germany emerge
Queen Mary fans are disappointed after seeing a photo of their favorite royal in Germany last week.
The 52-year-old stood gracefully next to Swedish Crown Princess Victoria, 47, and Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, 51, for the 25th anniversary of the Nordic embassy.
Princess Victoria and Princess Mette-Marit both wore elegant bow-shaped brooches for the occasion. The arch represents the German Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the ‘Special Class’, an honor Queen Mary has yet to receive.
Fans were hoping the popular monarch would get her bow in October, when she and King Frederick headed to Germany as part of the accession tour.
But that was not the case and she will have to wait for another state visit to Germany to receive the prize.
It is awarded for special achievements in political, economic, cultural, intellectual or honorary areas, but the Queen is not guaranteed to receive one.
The special class edition of the Order of Merit is only available to heads of state and their spouses.
So far, only 212 people have received the honor.
Photos from Queen Mary and King Frederick’s recent trip to Germany have left fans disappointed
Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Princess Victoria have both received Germany’s highest honor, while Queen Mary has not
Queen Mary isn’t the only popular royal patiently waiting for her time.
King Frederik is also not in the prize, nor is Crown Princess Victoria’s husband, Crown Prince Daniel.
Queen Mary has earned a long list of honors since she married into the royal family.
Danish awards include Knight of the Order of the Elephant, Dame of the Royal Family Decoration of King Frederick X, Dame of the Royal Family Decoration of Queen Margrethe II and Recipient of the Homeguard Medal of Merit.
Most recently, she became Commander of the Order of the Dannebrog, which was awarded to her on May 26.
She also holds international awards, including the Grand Cross of the Order of the Crown in Belgium, Member 1st Class of the Order of Stara Planina in Bulgaria and Commander Grand Cross of the Order of the White Rose of Finland.
