- Digital scam is now seen as just as good as other crimes
- Avast Survey Claims 1 in 3 British have fallen victim to online scams
- Phishing has seen a rise quarter of 466% in the quarter
If you think that digital scam is on the rise, you are not alone – a new study by Avast and Neighborhood Watch has revealed that 92% of the British believes that cyber crime is also a threat as other types of crime.
A little more than one in three respondents says that they personally fell victim to cyber criminals, and many of these have suffered financial loss by digital scammers.
In particular, phishing-wiveling increases, with an increase of 466% at quarter to quarter. The rise in phishing -scam is largely attributed to AI, where criminals use AI tools to send more frequent and more advanced social engineering attacks. With AI, only a few minutes of fraudsters are needed To make campaigns that would have lasted earlier days.
More financial loss
It is not surprising that British also lose more money, with 59% of the victims lost up to £ 500. Women lose less than £ 500 more often, and men are more likely to have higher losses (between £ 501 and £ 2000 and £ 2000+).
“Because cyber criminals are using more and more advanced tactics, it is no longer more vigilant to be more optional – especially because scams are more difficult to recognize and now lurking every digital angle,” Luis Corrons, Security Evangelist for Avast.
