‘Will fight this false propaganda’: DK Shivakumar calls MUDA allegation baseless | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has hit out at the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) citing alleged MUDA scam accusation “unfounded.”
“The BJP is playing politics. Their allegations are baseless and we will respond to them at an appropriate time. Whatever happened, it happened during the BJP government and we will counter this false propaganda,” Shivakumar told reporters on Friday.
Earlier in the day, BJP Karnataka president BY Vijayendra and several other party leaders were stopped on the road to Mysuru when they were on their way to protest against the alleged scam involving the allocation of land to losers by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority. They were supposed to stage a protest rally in Mysuru, the home district of the Chief Minister, in a bid to besiege the MUDA office there.
“The Congress government is indulging in oppression. The Siddaramaiah-led Congress government has no strength to stop our protest. In the coming days, our BJP workers will besiege Mysuru and also Bengaluru from every corner of the state. They stopped us today, but our protest will continue,” Vijayendra said. “There should be an impartial inquiry. There can be no SIT inquiry led by the state government. The BJP demands that the CM transfer the investigation into this case to the CBI.”
“It is a scam of more than Rs 5,000 crores. So the CM cannot escape his responsibility. As the CM of the state, he should be answerable to the people of Karnataka. We demand that he transfer the investigation into this case to the CBI,” BJP Karnataka leader Vijayendra said.
Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaja on Thursday rejected the BJP’s allegations that the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (Muda) had illegally allotted land to his wife Parvathi. The party accused the opposition of targeting him for the second time because of his successful leadership as a chief minister of a backward class.
“They are angry and are hatching a conspiracy against me for becoming the prime minister again,” he said, accusing the BJP of making baseless claims without evidence.
