'Will request extradition': India on arrest of Khalistani terrorist Arsh Dalla in Canada
NEW DELHI: India said on Thursday it will request the extradition Khalistani terrorist Arshdeep Singh, also known as Arsh Dallaafter his arrest Canada. Dalla was arrested on October 28 in connection with a shooting incident in Ontario.
In a statement, ministry of foreign affairs spokesman Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that India had been monitoring Dalla’s activities for some time, and authorities are now working with Canada to secure his extradition.
Dalla, the de facto leader of the Khalistan Tiger Forceis a proclaimed perpetrator in India with more than 50 criminal cases against him, including charges of murder, attempted murder, extortion and terrorism, including terrorist financing.

“Arsh Dalla is a declared perpetrator in more than 50 cases of murder, attempted murder, extortion and terrorist acts, including terrorist financing. In May 2022, a Red Corner notification was issued against him. He was classified as an individual terrorist in India in 2023. In July 2023, the Indian government had requested the Canadian government for his provisional arrest,” an MEA spokesperson said.

In the months that followed, India provided Canadian officials with additional information, including details of Dalla’s suspected whereabouts, financial transactions, properties and cellphone numbers.
In December 2023, the Canadian Department of Justice asked India for more information, to which a response was provided in March 2024. With his recent arrest, Indian authorities hope that Canada will cooperate in the process of extraditing Dalla to “face justice in India. “

The arrest follows intelligence reports linking Dalla to the Milton shooting incident, which has further strengthened India’s case for his extradition. Authorities are now preparing to take formal legal action to ensure Dalla faces the charges against him in India.
