Will Smith FARTING on set caused film crew to be evacuated for three hours, director claims

Will Smith is known for many things and now, thanks to Men In Black director Barry Sonnenfeld, flatulence is one of them.

Sonnenfeld, who directed Will in the 1997 action-comedy Men In Black, claims that the Oscar winner once had so much wind in his sails that an entire film set had to be evacuated for three hours.

DailyMail.com has contacted Smith’s representatives for comment on the matter.

According to the director’s recollection, the incident occurred when Smith and co-star Tommy Lee Jones were in a transforming car, which required them to be “hermetically sealed” in a capsule.

He explained: ‘There are locks to prevent it from opening and falling. I say, “Roll camera,” and I hear Will Smith say, “Oh Jesus, I’m so sorry. Tommy, I’m so sorry. Baz, get the ladder.” And you hear Tommy say, “That’s fine, Will. Don’t worry, Will. Don’t worry, Will.’ Anyway, I don’t know what’s going on, right?’

Barry went on to say, “So we race across the ladder, Tommy stretches his leg out as the ladder comes over and runs down the stairs. And what happened was: Will Smith is a fart.”

He continued, “It’s just a few people. And you really don’t want to sit in a tiny, hermetically sealed room with Will Smith farting.’

“You don’t even want to sit next to him at the Disney ranch,” he emphasized.

He made the comments while appearing on the podcast Let’s talk off camera With Kelly Ripa.

Men in Black became the third highest-grossing film of 1997, grossing $584 million worldwide.

Two Men in Black sequels were released under Barry’s direction: 2002’s Men in Black II and 2012’s Men in Black 3. They both starred Josh Brolin.

In April, Will surprised Coachella concertgoers when he joined Colombian singer J Balvin, 39, on stage.

They performed the Philadelphia rapper’s 1997 song Men In Black, which was released alongside the film.

Smith got into character as James Darrell Edwards III (Agent J), wearing a black suit and sunglasses.

Some of his backup dancers matched his look, while others dressed as green aliens from the science fiction movie.

It came five years after his last appearance at the festival, when he appeared on the Sahara stage with son Jaden Smith as they performed their song Icon.

It was also his first musical appearance since his infamous incident at the 2022 Oscars, in which he punched comedian Chris Rock after making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness.

Smith also took the stage in Los Angeles in August for a surprise performance of his 1991 hit Summertime.

The longtime entertainer — who performed a new song at this year’s BET Awards — joined singer Coco Jones at an event celebrating season three of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spinoff, titled Bel-Air.
